Boys and Girls Basketball - consistent winners

Our boys and girls basketball programs are known statewide for their award winning programs.

Over the past decade, our boys and girls teams have taken the state championship for baskeball - and have won many conference titles. Student athletes on the basketball team can expect to get discipline, fundamental skills, improve knowledge of the game of basketball and get collegiate exposure by college coaches who are on the search for talent.

Basketball try outs occur just after labor day - and then students train until the season start up around the first week of November. The season, including the championship - lasts until around mid-March. Students who try out for the team are expected to have some basic skills in the sport - and a great attitude - the two ingredients that make Parkview Basketball the most exciting and well attended sport of the year.

Coach Al Flanigan leads the boys basketball team and Coach LaHoma Howard has been leading the girls team since 2002, with the assistance of Coach Kiffany Davis. Howard is an experienced player who loves the game and says it best herself, "Basketball has always been a big part of my life. I started playing when I was young. My coaches had a great impact on my life, and encouraged me to pursue a career in coaching and teaching. As a child, my goal in life was to coach and teach math. I am currently pursuing that goal - and my ultimate goal is to coach in the Women's National Basketball Association league."

Beside being on a winning team, students reap real benefits from being on the basketball team including the opportunity to compete at the collegiate level, full athletic scholarships offered by scouts who look for their raw talent, and becoming outstanding citizens who understand - and participate - in real teamwork.

If your student wants to join the Parkview Girl's Basketball team, they need to meet a minimum 2.0 GPA, fill out the consent form at the top of this page, and get a physical from their doctor. Physical forms are also available on this page.
